Humanitarian forum “My strength is shown in weakness” held

The Kosovo Pomoravlje Humanitarian Organization, with the support of the Social Organizations Club of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, organized a discussion forum titled “My Strength Is Made Perfect in Weakness.” The event brought together a large audience, including many young people. The evening was dedicated to faith, Kosovo and Metohija, and the ways in which a person can transform weakness into strength.

An Evening Dedicated to Faith, Community, and Children from Kosovo and Metohija

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Marija Vasić opened the event by reminding attendees that the organization comes from a region often associated with difficult news and challenges. Yet, she emphasized that life in Kosovo and Metohija also bears witness to strength, joy, and blessing. She pointed out that material assistance is only the first step in helping others. True giving requires time, presence, conversation, and genuine closeness to people. From that approach emerged initiatives such as the Summer School for children, a scholarship program, and KK Kosovo Pomoravlje.

“When a person becomes aware of their weaknesses and shortcomings, they must transform them into a movement toward God and goodness.”

Speakers on the Strength That Is Born from Weakness

Protopresbyter Milorad Golijan spoke about the Kosovo Covenant, the Divine Liturgy, and spirituality as the foundation of the Serbian people’s endurance and identity. He particularly emphasized that people should defend what is theirs not out of hatred for others, but out of love for what is sacred, inherited, and entrusted to their care.

“Serbs in Kosovo, hold fast to the Liturgy. Go to church and you will not perish. Prince Lazar did not go to Kosovo because he hated the Turks, but because he deeply loved Serbia.”

A Community United Around Good Works

Mirko Mitorović, founder of the „First time with father“

initiative, spoke about fatherhood, responsibility, and the importance of children seeing authentic examples in their parents. He emphasized that fatherhood is not learned through words alone, but through shared life, commitment, and personal responsibility.

“The fullness of responsibility is found in love—standing by those for whom you are responsible. Children are not raised by a title or role; they are raised by character.”

Kosovo and Metohija as a Place of Commitment, Responsibility, and Living Faith

Famous ultrarunner Dalibor Daničić spoke about Kosovo and Metohija as a place where, in his words, heaven and earth meet in a unique way. He highlighted the importance of community, joy, personal effort, and concrete acts of service, stressing that people should never remain indifferent when confronted with the needs of others.

“Happiness depends on circumstances; joy does not. It is only through others that you can discover a better version of yourself.”

The Summer School: A Place of Joy, Learning, and Freedom for Children

The evening concluded with the message that weaknesses and wounds do not have to become reasons for giving up. Instead, they can become the starting point for transformation, community, and acts of kindness. Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance and other benefactors, a total of 120,000 dinars was raised during the event for the Kosovo Pomoravlje Summer School. The collected funds will support a program that provides children from Kosovo and Metohija with opportunities for learning, friendship, travel, and the joy of growing up within a supportive community.
