Children and young people from Kosovo and Metohija have returned from the Scout Forest School in Bela Crkva happy, full of wonderful memories and new friendships.
Children from Gotovuša, Kosovska Mitrovica, Sočanica, Gračanica, and Laplje Selo took part in the program. Their time together began on the bus ride and continued throughout their stay at the camp — in the tents, by the lake, and through a wide range of scouting activities.
The First Scout Camp for Children from Kosovo and Metohija
For many of them, this was their first real scouting experience. They received their first scout scarves and uniforms and learned what it is like to live in a camp. They learned how to use a compass, light a fire, and work together as a team.
They swam in the lake, took part in a silence and fasting challenge, learned basic scouting skills, and completed tasks that taught them patience, resourcefulness, and responsibility.
But above all, this school was a lesson in friendship, togetherness, and a deeper connection with nature.
Memories the Children from Kosovo and Metohija Will Cherish for Years
The messages parents sent after the children returned home show just how meaningful this experience was. One message in the parents’ group said:
He hasn’t taken off his scarf since he got home. He says he’s definitely going again next year
Another message touched us especially deeply, as one parent wrote that the children would remember this experience for the rest of their lives.
The feedback from the children, their parents, and everyone involved in this story has been truly wonderful. The children returned home with new knowledge, new friendships, and an experience that cannot be learned from books alone, but through life, nature, and being part of a community.
A Visit to Red Star Belgrade’s Museum and Stadium
At the end of their trip, the children also had the opportunity to visit Red Star Belgrade’s museum and stadium. For many of them, this was a special experience and a wonderful way to finish their journey.
