In Rajanovac, near Kosovska Kamenica, we visited the Jevtić family and helped them expand the small-scale farming business they rely on for their livelihood. We donated a goat and a buck, which have now joined their existing herd of 15 goats.
Časlav and his wife Marijana live with their daughters Vera and Anđela and grandmother Živka. The family makes a living through agriculture and their own hard work. In addition to goats, they also raise chickens, turkeys, and a pig.
Around 50 Kilograms of Cheese Every Month
The Jevtić family produces around 50 kilograms of goat cheese every month. That is why expanding their herd is so important to them. More goats could help them increase production and, in turn, provide a more secure income.
Still, Časlav says that what would mean the most to him is having a reliable buyer for their cheese every month. This would give the family greater financial security and allow them to plan the future development of their household with more confidence.
A year ago, Časlav suffered a heart attack. He is doing better today and, alongside his prescribed treatment, pays particular attention to his diet and lifestyle.
His daughters, Vera and Anđela, are excellent students. They stand out at school and have big ambitions for their future education.
Rajanovac Offers Good Conditions for Livestock Farming
Rajanovac is located not far from Prilepac, the birthplace of Prince Lazar. Today, around 30 Serbian families live in the village, while there were once around 70.
The area is rich in forests, meadows, and pastures. It offers good conditions for livestock farming as well as fruit growing. This year, the fruit harvest has been particularly good.
Our support for the Jevtić family is therefore not about starting a new business, but about strengthening something they already know how to do and work hard at every day. Our goal is to help families build a more secure livelihood through their own work and enable them to remain in their homes and on their ancestral land.
