The Humanitarian Organization Kosovo Pomoravlje has successfully carried out another aid initiative. The Orlović family from Vrbeštica, in the municipality of Štrpce, received a washing machine providing much-needed relief in their daily life.
Life in difficult conditions
Slaviša and Jasmina Orlović live beneath the Šar Mountains in very modest conditions. Their home does not have a bathroom, and their only income is a minimum salary of 20,000 dinars, most of which is spent on medication.
Their daily life is filled with numerous hardships. A washing machine was one of the most essential items missing from their household. However, their needs remain significant. Their refrigerator is unreliable, and an electric stove would greatly improve their situation, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for Slaviša to carry firewood from the forest.
Support from Canada
The donation for the Orlović family was made possible thanks to the Church-School Congregation “Saint Demetrius” from Canada. Several times a year, in cooperation with the Humanitarian Organization Kosovo Pomoravlje, this community supports families throughout Kosovo and Metohija.
The washing machine was delivered by our volunteers Dušica, a scholarship recipient of HO Kosovo Pomoravlje and a medical student, and teacher Aleksandra. We first met the family during this year’s holiday gift distribution and witnessed firsthand the difficult circumstances in which they live.
