We often hear in the media about problems and conflicts in Kosovo and Metohija. But what we don’t often see is what life is really like for children and young people living amid these events. How do Serbs live day-to-day in central Kosovo, Kosovo Pomoravlje, Sirinićka Župa, Metohija, and the north of the southern province?
On this occasion, the Humanitarian Organization Kosovo Pomoravlje invites you to a humanitarian panel on Tuesday, June 27 at 6 PM at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, on the topic “Life Behind the Wire: Growing Up in Kosovo and Metohija Today?” Here, you will hear firsthand:
- What life is like for children in Kosovo and Metohija
- Whether young people have the opportunity to learn, work, and stay in Kosovo and Metohija
- What can be done to improve the lives of our fellow citizens
Young people rarely have the chance to speak about their challenges or present ideas for improving their place in society, so leaving is often seen as the only solution.
Children living alone in enclaves are often lonely, longing to play with peers. Many do not leave their villages for years, and the environment around them is not only lacking playgrounds and parks but, unfortunately, is also unsafe. Free play, walks, or riding a bike can be a real risk for many children in Kosovo and Metohija.
That’s why this summer, at the summer school in the village of Bratilovce near Kosovska Kamenica, we are equipping a space for play and socializing for these children.
As a team living in Kosovo and Metohija, we invite you to join our event, talk about the children and youth in the region, and connect with friends from enclaves across Kosovo. Together, we hope to also raise funds to support the summer school in Bratilovce.
Speakers at this panel include:
Nikola Vasić, economist and founder of the organization
Marija Vasić, journalist and PR of the organization
Jelena Cvetković, medical student at the University of Pristina temporarily based in Kosovska Mitrovica
Stefan Mirković, lawyer and secretary of the organization
The event is open to all interested citizens.
