At the Morava Spiritual Evenings in Pasjane, held on the eve of the feast of Saint Bosiljka, Father Stevo Mitrić reminded us that the Kosovo Covenant is preserved not through words alone, but through faith, love, hard work, and the daily struggle to remain in Kosovo and Metohija.
As part of the Days of Saint Bosiljka event, the Morava Spiritual Evenings were held in Pasjane on October 23, 2026. The event was jointly organized by Draganac Monastery and the Kosovo Pomoravlje Humanitarian Organization.
The guest speaker was Father Stevo Mitrić, who delivered a talk entitled “Hope Has No One to Rely On but God and Our Own Hands.”
The Kosovo Covenant Lives Through People
Wherever I may be, these words could never carry as much living meaning as they do here among you, because you are living participants in the very truth they express, Father Stevo said, referring to the verses of Petar II Petrović-Njegoš.
He reminded those gathered that the Kosovo Covenant is reflected not only in great historical deeds, but also in the lives of people who remain on their ancestral land, raise their children, cultivate their fields, preserve their holy places, and care for their loved ones.
We go into battle and hope for a miracle. Even though we know full well that they may be ten times stronger, five times stronger, or twenty times stronger than we are, we still enter that battle, fully aware of the odds, hoping for a miracle.

Selling Our Land Means Turning Away from the Kosovo Covenant
Speaking about our responsibility to the heritage entrusted to us by our ancestors, Father Stevo spoke particularly strongly against the sale of land in Kosovo and Metohija. He distinguished between those who were forced to leave their homes and those who chose to sell their land for material gain.
These are the people who knowingly left this place, who, by selling their land, severed their roots here in Kosovo and Metohija and, in doing so, betrayed those of us who live here and have persevered here. They are the modern-day converts who abandoned their faith and heritage.
According to Father Stevo, land in Kosovo and Metohija is not merely private property. It is also an inheritance entrusted to us by our ancestors, and every generation has a responsibility to preserve it.
Saint Bosiljka: Our Protector and Role Model
A special part of the discussion was devoted to Saint Bosiljka, whose martyrdom bears witness to true freedom and faithfulness to Christ. Father Stevo reminded everyone that she learned to live the Kosovo Covenant within her own family and, through the choices she made, bore witness to it for eternity.
She remains on that path, faithful to that covenant. She renounces all earthly things and is born into eternal life. She does not lose her life; she is born anew.
Speaking about her significance for our people, he emphasized:
We have a protector, someone who laid down her life and remained faithful to Orthodoxy. She did not wish to live comfortably in this temporary life. Instead, she took freedom into her own hands and gained eternal life. We all have an example to follow, and we are all blessed.
Changing Ourselves Instead of Waiting for Better Times
The evening also provided an opportunity to reflect on responsibility, family, love, and the need for each person to contribute to a better life for the community through their own actions.
We were created to bless our friends and our enemies, to bless our work and the fruits of our labor. All we need to do is bless one another, Father Stevo said.
The beginning of the talk
He reminded everyone that true freedom cannot be separated from love and service to others. Spiritual growth, he explained, requires personal effort, prayer, and a willingness to take responsibility.
We are not waiting for better times; we are waiting for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The talk concluded with a reminder that faith and the Kosovo Covenant are not merely a heritage we preserve. They are also a responsibility to live up to the trust placed in us and remain worthy of what has been passed down through generations.
We thank Father Stevo Mitrić for a spiritually refreshing conversation, our hosts in Pasjane for their hospitality, and everyone who attended. As well as RTV Puls for the media support and the upcoming release of the footage of the event.
