Life at K&M

The future of Kosovo and Metohija lies with the youth

When we talk about young people whose hard work and dedication prove that a future in Kosovo and Metohija truly exists, one of those inspiring faces is definitely Miljana Bojković. She is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Priština, temporarily based in Kosovska Mitrovica, and one of the scholarship recipients of the Humanitarian Organization Kosovsko Pomoravlje.
Miljana lives in the village of Babin Most with her parents, two younger brothers, and a sister. Despite the challenges of growing up in a large family, she has built a clear goal for herself – to finish her studies and stay in her homeland.

“I would love to graduate here and continue working here, to help my family and, of course, everyone around me. That’s my goal,” says Miljana

Scholarships for students in Kosovo and Metohija – life-changing support

Like many students in Kosovo and Metohija, Miljana has faced numerous challenges. For her, the scholarship became a true encouragement.

“I applied through your website. I saw the post on Instagram and decided to give it a try because I believed that even if I stumbled, I would receive great support to keep studying. The scholarship covers many of my expenses, like accommodation and books. It’s a form of support that motivates me to stay here and help my community.”

For many students, this support is more than just financial help — it’s a sign that they are not alone and that someone believes in their efforts.

Student life in Mitrovica – challenges that strengthen

Student life is rarely without obstacles. Miljana admits that she once thought about giving up:

“During my first year, there was one exam I kept failing. I really thought about quitting. But I couldn’t. I believe anyone can succeed if they have a goal. I kept reminding myself not to give up, and in the end, I passed everything. That was my biggest challenge.”

Today she is proud that she persevered.

“To graduate from college, to get a job, to be my own person, to make it easier for my parents and myself. That’s what keeps me going,” he adds.

“I want to finish law school, find a job, be independent, and make life easier for my parents and myself. That’s what keeps me going,” she adds

“The only difference is that there’s always a bit of tension here because of the situation and the uncertainty of what might happen. That’s what makes us different. Otherwise, studying is pretty much the same as in other cities in Serbia,” Miljana explains.

Support for young people in Kosovo and Metohija – the choice to stay

Her words confirm the views of other young people.

“At my college, everyone wants to stay. In my year, everyone I hang out with thinks so. We hope that tomorrow we will become lawyers, doctors, and that we will stay here to help our people – regardless of nationality or anything else.”

Message to future scholarship recipients and donors

Despite all the difficulties, Miljana has a clear message for young people and for anyone considering supporting students in Kosovo and Metohija:

“I would tell them to never give up on education, to believe in themselves, and to use every opportunity that comes their way. Knowledge is the greatest value a person can gain  something no one can ever take away.”

The hope that remains in Kosovo and Metohija

Miljana Bojković’s story is not just about one young woman building her career — it’s the story of an entire generation that wants to stay, to fight, and to build a stronger community in Kosovo and Metohija.

In her words, we see what’s most valuable — faith in knowledge, in unity, and in the future of Kosovo and Metohija.
