Life at K&M

The future of Kosovo and Metohija lies with the youth

When we talk about young people who, through their effort and knowledge, prove that there is a future in Kosovo and Metohija, one of those faces is certainly Miljana Bojković. She is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Law, University of Priština (temporarily based in Kosovska Mitrovica), and one of the scholarship recipients of the humanitarian organization Kosovsko Pomoravlje.

Miljana lives in Babin Most with her parents, two younger brothers, and a sister. Despite all the responsibilities that come with life in a family of four children, she has managed to set a clear goal – to finish her studies and remain in her hometown.

“I would love to finish my studies here, continue working here, and help both my family and, of course, everyone else. That’s my goal,” says Miljana.

Scholarships for Students in Kosovo and Metohija – Support That Changes Lives

Like many students in Kosovo and Metohija, Miljana faced numerous challenges. The scholarship became the wind at her back.

“I applied through your website. I saw the post on Instagram and decided to give it a try because I thought that even if I stumbled, I would receive great support to continue my education. The scholarship covers many expenses for housing, books, and more. It’s not just financial help—it motivates me to stay here and give back to my community.”

For many students, it’s not just financial aid – it’s the feeling that they’re not alone and that someone truly believes in their effort.

Student Life in Mitrovica – Challenges That Build Strength

Student life rarely goes without obstacles. Miljana admits that at one point, she considered giving up:

“In my first year, I had an exam that I failed several times. At that moment, I thought about quitting. But I just couldn’t. I believe anyone can succeed if they have a goal. I told myself not to give up, and in the end, I passed everything. That was my biggest challenge.”

Today, she is proud that she persevered.

“My goal is to graduate, get a job, be independent, and make life easier both for my parents and for myself. That’s what keeps me going,” she adds.

Although studying here is, in many ways, similar to other cities in Serbia, there are still unique challenges.

“The only difference is that we always feel a certain tension because of the situation and the uncertainty of what might happen. That’s the only thing that sets us apart, but in essence, studying is the same as in other Serbian cities,” Miljana explains.

Supporting Youth in Kosovo and Metohija – Choosing to Stay

Miljana emphasizes that she never thought about leaving permanently.

“Honestly, I want to stay here because whenever I go to central Serbia for a short time, something always pulls me back – this is home. That’s why I want more than anything to remain in Kosovo and Metohija.”

For her and many of her peers, the University in Mitrovica is a symbol of hope.

“I believe that we, the young students here, are the future. All the young people studying in Kosovska Mitrovica – we are the ones holding Mitrovica right now. The University is what gives us hope that things will get better.”

Her words echo the thoughts of many other students.

“At my faculty, everyone wants to stay. In my year, all my friends feel the same way. We hope that tomorrow we’ll become lawyers, doctors, and professionals who will stay here and help our people – regardless of nation or anything else.”

A Message to Future Scholarship Recipients and Donors

Despite all the difficulties, Miljana has a clear message for young people and those who consider supporting students in Kosovo and Metohija:

“I would say—never give up on education, believe in yourself, and take every opportunity that comes your way. Knowledge is the greatest treasure a person can gain, and it’s something no one can ever take away.”

Hope That Remains in Kosovo and Metohija

Miljana Bojković’s story is not just the testimony of one young woman building her career—it’s a symbol of a generation determined to stay, to fight, and to build a community in Kosovo and Metohija.

In her words, we recognize the most valuable things: faith in knowledge, in unity, and in the future of Kosovo and Metohija.
