Our organization is proud to introduce the “Kosovo Pomoravlje” Basketball School the only one in this part of Kosovo and Metohija. As a humanitarian organization dedicated to the needs of children and youth, we strive to develop sports opportunities for kids in Kosovo and Metohija, helping them nurture a love for sports, grow up healthy, and develop their athletic talents.
The Kosovo Pomoravlje Basketball School aims to provide children with an encouraging environment for intellectual growth, team spirit, and sportsmanship. Through our activities, we want to foster a love for basketball, give children the experience of participating in sports, and offer a pathway to a potential professional career opportunities that, due to their circumstances, would otherwise be unavailable to them.
Who is the Basketball school in Parteš for, and what is its goal?
The Kosovo Pomoravlje Basketball School in Parteš is designed for girls and boys in grades 3 to 6. Training is free of charge and aims to bring together children from surrounding villages so they can enjoy recreational sports, experience healthy physical and mental development, socialize, travel, and discover new talents. All training sessions take place in the gym of “Dositej Obradović” Elementary School in Parteš.
Why donate to the basketball school?
Kosovo Pomoravlje is a region where the Serbian population saw positive natural growth in the past decade. Unfortunately, isolated rural areas in this part of Kosovo and Metohija offer very few sports or recreational activities for children and youth. Many children are therefore deprived of opportunities to develop through sports, socialize, travel, and for especially talented ones, even dream of a sports career. The lack of sports and cultural opportunities and ways to recognize talent is one reason why many parents in Serbian communities in Kosovo and Metohija struggle to see a future for their children.
Through our humanitarian work, we aim to responsibly address these challenges and revive sports for children. The basketball school is our first step toward this mission, which we hope to expand to other sports in the future.
How to support this project
Thanks to the donation and ongoing support of our dedicated donor Luka Božek, we were able to successfully launch this project and bring together the people who will work on it. Moving forward, we need continued support to maintain and develop the school. Children and healthy growth remain our top long-term priority.
