The Manasijević family lives in the village of Glogovce, near Ranilug, in the municipality of Kosovska Kamenica. Two brothers, older brother Stefan (30) and younger brother Mihajlo (17), share the family home. Stefan now lives on one floor with his wife Marina (27) and their two children, Vasilije (9) and Jovana (5), while their parents, Svetislav and Vesna, live downstairs with their younger son.
A Young Family That Chose to Stay and Build Their Life at Home
Stefan and Marina married very young and bravely stepped into adulthood together. As they told us, it was far from easy to raise a child on a total family income of just €300 a month. But they had the most important things needed to build a home and keep their family together — love and unity.
Year after year, together with Stefan’s parents and his younger brother, they invested in their modest family property and worked to make it a better place to live. The men in the family have always relied on daily manual labor to make ends meet. Stefan, while working for a private company, managed to take out a loan and renovate the floor of the family home. Even so, paying off the loan and covering everyday expenses remains extremely difficult when relying on physically demanding work that is poorly paid.
A Sense of Security That Brought New Hope
After their second child was born, the Manasijević family were fortunate to receive two jobs within Serbian institutions. They now have two modest minimum wages, but they still need to take on additional work to make ends meet.
Today, Stefan works two jobs. He is still paying off his loans, while the roof of the family home is becoming increasingly damaged with each passing day. That is why we have decided to help this hardworking family repair their roof. In doing so, we want to support young, determined, brave and family-oriented people like Stefan and Marina as they work to build their home and future in Kosovo and Metohija.
They Never Considered Leaving
They say that, even during the most difficult moments, they never considered leaving their home. Even today, they remain determined to stay, work hard and raise their children in their native Glogovce.
The Manasijević family is a true example of devotion and love for family, home and their homeland. Their strength and perseverance deserve our deepest respect and support.
