Sofia and Filip need help, their dad is seriously ill, and their mom has no documents.

Sofia and Filip from Veliko Ropotovo need our help. Their father, Mile, is seriously ill and survives on a modest disability pension. Their mother, Škurte, is Albanian and still doesn’t have Serbian documents, which means she has no right to healthcare or social assistance.

The Aritonović family lives in a small two-room house in Veliko Ropotovo, municipality of Kosovska Kamenica. The house has no heating or enough furniture, so the whole family sleeps in one room.

Since their father became ill, Filip and Sofia help their mother the most and take care of him. Despite these difficulties, they are good students. Sofia dances in the folklore group, and Filip dreams of becoming a teacher.

Mile’s dad is seriously ill, his mom has no documents.

“Mile had two strokes, his heart is weak, I can’t leave him alone for a minute. We live off his disability and child benefits, I don’t have a health card, I have no rights. I haven’t been able to get my documents for 12 years, it’s too expensive for me.
I can’t go to Vranje, I can’t afford it and live like this. When I’m not feeling well, I ask them to look at me in the clinic…” Škurte Aritonović

Our little help to Sofia and Filip means a lot

When asked what they would like most, the children said: an electric stove, a fridge, and a bed. They have put aside their childhood wishes, showing maturity beyond their years, fully aware that they must take care of the whole family. That’s why we decided to make life, at least a little, easier and brighter for these brave little fighters and their parents.

We are launching an action to help the Aritonović family.

What they need most are a stove, a fridge, and new beds for the children. Sofia and Filip also need a computer and a children’s room where they can learn and play.

Join us in this action to support the Aritonović family from Veliko Ropotovo in Kosovo and Metohija!

Report on successful completion of the action: Aritonović's wish came true before Easter (21.04.2022)
