On the way to Christ – the way to yourself, a panel discussion was held in Pasjane

A conversation on humanity, meaning, and spirituality

On March 21, a panel discussion titled “On the Path to Christ – The Path to Oneself” was held at the “Sveta Bosiljka” Cultural Center in Pasjane. The event brought together a large number of visitors interested in topics such as psychotherapy, spirituality, and the dilemmas of modern life.

The guest speaker of the evening was theologian and psychotherapist Dr. Danilo Mihajlović. The discussion focused on one of today’s key questions – whether the path to Christ leads us to ourselves, and where psychotherapy and spiritual life intersect.

The identity of modern man – between loss and search

During the discussion, special attention was given to the fact that modern individuals live in a time where identity is increasingly easy to lose and increasingly difficult to build especially among young people.
The importance of faith, family, and community was emphasized as the foundation for developing a healthy and whole personality, as well as the deep human need for belonging, meaning, and inner grounding.

“If we have someone close to us who is experiencing anxiety or depression… we cannot help them by pushing or expecting things from them. Instead, we can help by asking ourselves what we can change within ourselves in order to approach them differently. That way, we can help them develop the desire to move forward. No one wants to be anxious or depressed.”

Psychotherapy and spirituality – boundaries and encounters

One of the central themes of the panel was the relationship between psychotherapy and spirituality. It was highlighted that psychotherapy can help a person better understand themselves, their wounds, and their inner state. However, true healing and transformation do not come outside the Church. In this context, particular attention was given to the difference between psychotherapy and confession, as well as their roles in a person’s life.

“Psychotherapy is not about digging endlessly into yourself that is not psychoanalysis. It is about searching for truth within and facing those painful places we try to avoid. When a person sincerely accepts that they suffer, that they struggle, and that they may hurt their loved ones through certain inner states they did not choose but still carry those are the first moments when they begin to truly seek themselves. At first, they search for themselves, and over time they realize they can only find themselves in Christ.”

Kosovo as a place in the search for meaning

A particularly engaging topic was why an increasing number of young people, despite material abundance in larger cities, come to Kosovo—and именно here find peace, beauty, and spiritual fulfillment. Professor Mihajlović explained that regardless of external circumstances, people strive for meaning, community, and a deeper experience of life—something often lacking in the modern lifestyle.

“I believe that my small effort is no sacrifice compared to the fact that you live here and bear witness to your faith every day. And you have such a great святыня as the relics of Saint Bosiljka, which I believe are truly given to all of us as a reminder to continually examine ourselves.”

Open dialogue and audience participation

The discussion took place in an open and sincere atmosphere, with active audience participation. Visitors had the opportunity to ask questions and engage directly in the conversation.
