Distribution of packages in Kmetovce on New Year’s Eve, January 13th, for all the children in the village.
On the eve of the Orthodox New Year, the Humanitarian Organization “Kosovsko Pomoravlje” organized the distribution of Christmas packages for children in the village of Kmetovce, near Gjilan.
Life of serbian families in Kmetovce
Today, around one hundred people live in the village. Although many residents have moved away over the years, it is encouraging that the number of young children who are not yet attending school is higher than the number of school-aged children
Gift package distribution across all parts of the village
Members of the Humanitarian Organization Kosovsko Pomoravlje visited households in all parts of the village. On that occasion, more than 40 New Year’s gift packages were distributed. The children welcomed us with smiles and joy, while the parents expressed sincere gratitude.
Kmetovce – a village with a strong agricultural tradition
Kmetovce was once an economically strong village, known for its fertile land and hardworking farmers. Even today, the small number of remaining Serbian families make a living through agriculture. They sell vegetables and homemade winter preserves at a market at the entrance to the village, which represents the main or additional source of income for most families.
