Saint Sava academy as part of the Morava Spiritual Evenings
As part of the Morava Spiritual Evenings, a Saint Sava Academy was held in Šilovo, during which the exhibition “Return to Measure and Silence” was ceremoniously opened. The exhibition features works by students of the Faculty of Arts in Priština (Zvečan), under the mentorship of Professor Saša Filipović. The program continued with a lecture entitled “Saint Sava Toward the Glorification of God and His People”, delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Jovan Aleksić from the Faculty of Philosophy in Kosovska Mitrovica.
The musical segment of the program featured a performance by the choir of the Stevan Hristić Music School from Gnjilane (Stanišor).
Exhibition “Return to Measure and Silence” on display in Šilovo until January 31
The exhibition presents works by young artists in the fields of painting, graphic art, sculpture, and graphic design. These works are united by a shared aspiration toward reduction, balance, and inner silence as a form of contemporary artistic resistance. As Professor Saša Filipović emphasized, in a time of visual overload, these works invite viewers to slow down, focus, and engage in a deeper reflection on meaning.
In a world oversaturated with images, silence becomes radical, emptiness becomes speech, and measure becomes resistance.
Profesor Filipović stated while opening the exhibition, which will be on display in Šilovo until January 31.
Saint Sava as a Guide to Spirituality and Identity
In his lecture, Professor Jovan Aleksić reminded the audience of the timeless importance of Saint Sava:
Although he was a man of his time, Saint Sava is a timeless figure in Serbian history, culture, and spirituality. His work carries universal messages of love, peace, unity, and the pursuit of virtue, to the glory of God and for the benefit of the people. That is why the story of Saint Sava is the longest story of the Serbian people—it does not age, fade, or lose its relevance.
The Saint Sava Academy on the Role of Youth in Preserving Culture and Unity
Reflecting on young people’s relationship with issues of identity and spirituality, Aleksić noted that their interest is becoming increasingly pronounced:
In a time of technological progress and moral challenges, young people are increasingly searching for answers to questions of who they are and where they are going. They turn to the source, seeking meaning and values that can guide them. It is our responsibility to help them, to pass on knowledge, and to direct them toward good and noble goals.
The Saint Sava Academy in Šilovo, organized by the Draganac Monastery and the Humanitarian Organization Kosovsko Pomoravlje, is the first such academy held within the framework of the Morava Spiritual Evenings. The aim of the event was to celebrate Saint Sava as the father of Serbian spirituality, culture, and education, as well as to highlight the role of art and youth in preserving the identity and unity of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija.
