Celebration of the Baptism of the Lord – St. Bosiljke of Pasjane

Saint Bosiljka Pasjanska, a New Martyr, lived in the 18th century and was canonized on May 3, 2018. She suffered at the hands of an Albanian aggressor, enduring severe torture because she refused to renounce her faith. On October 23, 2019, her relics were discovered in a pillar of the Church of the Transfiguration in the village of Pasjane in Kosovo Pomoravlje, where they had been safeguarded from those hostile to Orthodoxy and the Serbian heritage. The life of Saint Bosiljka reflects the spirit and character of the people in Kosovo Pomoravlje.

The Serbian people in this region were materially poor, yet their spiritual richness shone through. The suffering of Saint Bosiljka holds great significance both for the past and the present of Kosovo Pomoravlje. Her sacrifice is an example for all of us to remain steadfast in preserving our religious identity and, in these difficult and uncertain times, to see the true and clear path of our people. In doing so, we honor the legacy left by our holy ancestors as a pledge for our devotion to the Kingdom of God. We must be united through her mercy and love, praying that her intercessory prayers protect us during these times of great suffering and injustice in Kosovo Pomoravlje. Like Saint Bosiljka Pasjanska, the Serbian people in this faithless environment have endured various trials, insults, and pressures for many years. The Serbian people of Kosovo Pomoravlje bear the heaviest responsibility for preserving Kosovo and Metohija within Serbia and for the future of the Serbian people in the region.

The humanitarian organization “Kosovsko Pomoravlje” celebrates Saint Bosiljka Pasjanska as its patron saint. As a nation, we must live up to the example of our saint and protector, guided by true values and an unwavering commitment to survival. Those who seek to build the future of their people on the tragedy, injustice, abduction, or violence against others may shine briefly, but only for a fleeting moment.
