Life at K&M

Today we celebrate the first year

On this day, exactly one year ago, we founded the Humanitarian Organization Kosovo Pomoravlje. Driven by a strong desire to help our people and with the hope that our generation of youth has enough will and strength to continue the fight of our ancestors while keeping pace with the challenges of the modern world, we came together around this humanitarian organization. Our goal has been to improve living conditions and ensure the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, even if only to the extent within our reach. We aimed for our members and volunteers to be young, educated, socially responsible, and patriotic individuals ready to accept advice and learn from various experiences, yet determined to make independent decisions and lead the organization in their own way. It turned out that our sincere intention to persist in our mission was recognized by many fellow citizens who offered us their support, for which we are deeply grateful. With the blessing of the Draganc Monastery, and later the monastery in Slanci, which encouraged our initiative, we were honored with both a great privilege and responsibility to stay united in uncertain times. However, what gave us the greatest strength to persevere were the children whose families we have helped so far. Their modest wishes, strong hugs, words, tears of joy, and smiles ignited in us a sense of closeness and brotherhood feelings that, in today’s world, are often forgotten or buried under daily concerns. For everything we have achieved so far, we are grateful to them, as they have taught us how to love unconditionally from the very first encounter. We hope that the past year, the first year of our work, will serve as a solid foundation for further humanitarian efforts in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as for contributing to the preservation of the Serbian identity in these areas. We will strive, through upcoming initiatives, not only to provide individual assistance to families but also to enhance education, organize cultural events, promote a culture of peace and cooperation, and highlight the importance of sports and environmental preservation. The support of people who share our values and convictions is essential for everything the future may bring. We are grateful that all previous collaborations with benefactors have been based on trust and open dialogue, and that many have grown into friendships, which we hope will continue in the years to come. We believe, as Father Tadej said, that there is no moment in time nor any step in space that does not offer a lesson to humanity and so, today’s anniversary is an important lesson and a significant moment for all of us. Cheers!
