Robotics champions from Kololeč

Students from Kololeč became champions in a robotics and informatics competition. The “9th of May” Elementary School from Kololeč, near Kosovska Kamenica, is the only school in Kosovo and Metohija that takes part in the Knowledge for the Future festival, competing in programming and operating mBot robots. A special credit for this success goes to the school principal, Aleksandar Stevanović.

Last year, we participated for the first time and won first place at the regional competition in Novi Pazar in the mBot robot discipline, as well as third place in drone programming and control. This qualified us for the national competition in Belgrade.

Robotics Club: Kololeč Students Built a School Bell

The children of Kololeč have been interested in robotics and informatics for a long time. Their current success comes after years of dedication and effort.

We have a robotics and programming club at school where students learn programming on the Arduino platform. It’s a small microcomputer where they create different projects—LED lights, a parking ramp, a school bell…

Informatics, Physics, and Math: Strengths of Kololeč Students

Competitions like this are very challenging and require students to apply advanced knowledge of not only informatics but also physics and mathematics.

During the competition, students receive a map where they must calculate the speed of a robot or drone between two points, turn it at certain angles, and complete other tasks to earn points.

“Speak, Lord” at the End of the Day

The hallways of the small village school in Kololeč, right on the administrative line, echo with the voices of a well-rehearsed student choir. With only 14 children in total, all students sing together during music class. Teacher Nikolina Bogdanović shared her story about moving from Niš to Kosovo and Metohija to work with these children.

My roots are also from Kosovo and Metohija. I feel like part of this community, even though I didn’t grow up or study here. I’m full of wonderful impressions. There are few of us, but through unity and hard work we remain here. It is a great honor and challenge to return to my roots, to Kosovo. I do what I love—teaching children music and especially the vocal traditions of Kosovo and Metohija, which are our great treasure.

Kololeč Students: The Most Awarded in Their Region

As the students of the “9th of May” Elementary School sang “Speak, Lord” in the hallway, their walls displayed diplomas from history, geography, Serbian language, and more. These are the names of the best Serbian elementary school students in Kosovska Kamenica—children who bring pride to the entire nation. Kololeč, once full of life, is now known only within the Pomoravlje region. But the love, dedication, and friendship found in this small school deserve to be shared and remembered.
