The maternity ward as a pivot of survival

The delegation of the Humanitarian Organization “Kosovsko Pomoravlje” visited the hospital in Pasjane today, one of the institutions of the Gnjilane Health Center.
This Serbian institution is the most important in the Kosovsko Pomoravlje region and serves as one of the main pillars supporting the survival of Serbs there. The main purpose of the visit was to sign a memorandum, which lays the foundation and framework for future cooperation between our organization and the Gnjilane Health Center. On behalf of the Health Center, the memorandum was signed by Director Dr. Zoran Perić. During discussions with him, the key principles of collaboration were agreed upon. During the hospital visit, we also took the opportunity to tour the maternity ward. On this occasion, we presented the Savić family with a crib for their newborn daughter, Lena. Lena is the eighth child in the family, and we hope this gift will be of great help. We would like to extend our gratitude to Jelena T. Kandić from Čačak, the generous donor of this valuable gift. At the meeting with the Center’s director, we concluded that humanitarian work is essential for supporting the most vulnerable Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija. Dr. Zoran Perić expressed his gratitude and emphasized his willingness to assist our humanitarian organization in carrying out its mission. Our goal is to, through joint efforts and various initiatives, further improve both the healthcare system and the overall quality of life for people who remain in Kosovo and Metohija. In recognition of the Health Center’s support and willingness to collaborate, the Humanitarian Organization awarded them a certificate of appreciation. Today, at a time when Serbia is facing declining birth rates, it is encouraging to know that despite the difficult living conditions in Kosovo and Metohija, around 430 babies have been born in the Pasjane maternity ward since its opening in 2015. However, the maternity ward, like the entire Pasjane hospital, operates under challenging conditions. The main reason is the disrupted and unique security-political situation in Kosovo and Metohija. This situation also affects many vulnerable Serbian families living in highly uncertain and difficult conditions. That is why members of the Humanitarian Organization “Kosovsko Pomoravlje” strive, whether through independent actions or in cooperation with Serbian institutions, to show true patriotism and, with the help of compassionate people, work towards the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
