Thanks to the support of the Badnjak Association from Aleksandrovac, our organization carried out a support initiative for the Ristić family from Izvor near Novo Brdo. The Ristić family consists of four members who work in agriculture and livestock farming. At the moment, their most urgent need was agricultural machinery: a lawnmower and hay-gathering equipment.
The Ristić family cares for eight cows and four calves, making these machines extremely important to ease their work in the fields and efficiently provide food for their livestock. The total value of the purchased agricultural machinery amounts to €1,100.
In conversation with the Ristić family, we learned that raising cows can be rewarding and provide a sustainable livelihood. Selling milk and cheese generates income that supports the entire family, including their daughter Anđela, who is a university student.
Their son Lazar mentioned that he would prefer to stay and live in the village. Having completed high school, he plans to enroll in university. Support initiatives like this are extremely valuable, as they help revitalize agriculture and livestock farming—sectors crucial for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
In a time when the number of livestock in villages is steadily declining, it is essential to support those who want to live off their work. That is why, through our project Support for Agriculture we will continue helping households improve their agricultural practices, gain financial stability, and secure their future in these areas.
