Radovićs from Kosovo and Metohija need a safe home

The Radović family from Šilovo, Kosovo and Metohija, has been waiting for years to secure a safe and stable home.

The family consists of Dejan, his wife Jelena, and their two daughters. They live solely on Dejan’s salary as a kindergarten assistant. For years, they have hoped to fix their home, but as they told us, there’s never enough money to do so.

“I can’t manage to fix this — to add insulation, new windows, or expand… We live in the old house during the day and sleep in the new one. Neither is safe or finished. With my salary alone I can’t make it happen. I don’t own land, just this small yard.”

What Do the Radović Family Need for a Safe Home?

Although they received a new house about fifteen years ago, after their old one was damaged in an earthquake, housing is still a major issue for them. The new house never became a real home, as they cannot adapt it to their needs. Rooms are small, cut off by walls, and they lack proper furniture.

Another problem is space — the house is too small for the whole family. The children don’t have their own room, and the living room is cramped and impractical. That’s why they are forced to spend time in their old, unsafe house, where at least they have space to live.

Our Goal: Help the Radović Family Finally Have a Real Home

The campaign A Little Means a Lot was named for families just like the Radovićs from Šilovo. They are wonderful, hardworking people, saving for years to provide their children with a normal life. Sadly, their income barely covers basic needs, leaving nothing for the urgent improvements they require.

They need to expand the house and provide suitable furniture. The total cost of the work is €5,000.

“When my father bought this house, he could have gotten an apartment in Belgrade for the same money. But I always felt it was best to stay where I was born, where my children were born. I’ve never regretted it. This is ours — whatever it’s like.”
