Let’s restore hope to the Antići people from Kosovo and Metohija

Let’s restore hope to the Antići people from Kosovo and Metohija and help them have a roof over their heads.

As part of the A Little Means a Lot campaign, we are helping three families from Kosovo and Metohija, including the Antić family from Poneš.

The Antić Family Is Missing Hope for a Better Tomorrow

The Antić family has lived through two great tragedies. In just two years, Zoran lost his son and then his wife. Now, together with his younger son Ivan, he lives in two unfit rooms because their house collapsed.

“You see, the wind blows in from everywhere, I can rarely shut it. The doors don’t seal. But the biggest problem is the bathroom. The boiler is from 1985. Steam damages the walls, even my washing machine broke from the moisture… Still, this small block room feels safer than the house that could collapse on me at any moment.”

For Years, No One Knocked on the Antićs’ Door to Help

For six years, Zoran’s wife was ill. During the last year of her life, after losing their son, she remained bedridden. Zoran heated water on the stove to bathe her and carried her everywhere in his arms. Since then, he has taken on all household duties. The family survived only on his minimal salary of around (20.000) dinars and caregiving support. Now, their only income is Zoran’s small salary and social aid. Both he and Ivan are unable to work, and they can barely cover the basics. For them, decent living conditions are a necessity, not a luxury.

Bathroom

Even a Little Would Be Enough to Bring the Antićs Hope

After all the hardships, Zoran’s health has also declined. He humbly asks for help. New windows and doors, a repaired bathroom, and insulation for their small home would mean a new beginning. A safe roof over their heads, even in just one room, would ease his worries.

Together with our organization, the family tried through the municipality of Gnjilane to get the construction materials they are entitled to as a vulnerable family. Sadly, despite appeals, their request never reached the Office for Kosovo and Metohija. That is why we decided, with the support of kind people, to help the Antić family—and not let anyone live without hope.

Zoran’s medicines

“As long as I could, I did everything myself and never asked for anything. But when illness strikes, there’s no one!”

Support the A Little Means a Lot campaign and help the Antić family see the light of hope again—proof that they are not forgotten!
