Children lack adequate food and basic necessities, and most families cannot solve other pressing issues, primarily housing problems. Life in these villages is extremely challenging. Most residents live on minimal financial support or social aid. Before the bombing, many worked in factories in the Gjilan region. Sadly, after the “democratic” NATO intervention, most of these factories were destroyed, and the rest privatized. Segregation is widespread, and society remains polarized. Jovan, Lazar, and Bogdan Tomic live in the attic of their home under very harsh conditions. Life has forced these children to grow up too soon—they have no carefree childhood or time to play. Ten-year-old Lazar has learned to take care of himself and help his father with daily tasks. At the same time, the struggle for survival is visible from morning until evening. To help, we gifted the Tomic family from Pančelo a refrigerator so that the produce Lazar picks during the day can stay fresh. Our next visit took us to Milena Tomic from Tomance, to whom we gave a washing machine. Milena is a medical student. At a time when many doctors leave our country, Milena plans to stay and work in Kosovo Pomoravlje after graduation. She wants to turn the hardship her parents endured for her education into their pride. The Stanković family from Korminjane lives in daily worry. Their roof leaks a serious problem since winters in Kosovo Pomoravlje are harsh and windy. Unable to replace the roof themselves, they asked the local municipality for help. Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions, the municipality is unable to assist. This time, we donated them an electric stove, and we hope to help them replace the roof in the future. Once again, we had the opportunity to reward outstanding students. We gifted a computer to Jelena Stojanović from Bosce. Jelena is an excellent student at the secondary medical school. The Stojanović family of eleven is especially concerned about little Natasha, who is four years old and suffers from paralysis. The people of Kosovo Pomoravlje seek real, tangible support in daily life, not just promises often made during election campaigns. The humanitarian organization “Kosovo Pomoravlje” will always strive to ensure that the world hears the sad stories of this region, as we believe there are still good people willing to help. We warmly invite everyone to lend a hand. Families: Stanković, Tomić, Stojanović, and Tomić.
