Help for Two Families in the Kamenica Region

This week, support reached the villages of Korminjane and Bušince, bringing relief to two families in need.

The Stanković family

In Korminjane, we visited the six-member Stanković family. With four children, they live only on social assistance of 20,000 dinars. They asked our organization for help in purchasing a washing machine. However, after visiting their home, we realized that larger investments are also needed—especially in repairing the house and their kitchen, which is in very poor condition. The father, Saša, worries about how to provide for his family, as work is scarce.

The donation of a washing machine, which we delivered during this visit, means a lot to them and will make daily life easier.

A Refrigerator for Momčilo from Bušince

Momčilo Jovanović lives alone. Struggling with serious health problems and leg illness, he can barely walk from his home down to the village center to collect food from the public kitchen. His house, damaged in a fire, has no floors, and the little furniture he owns stands on bare concrete. During our first visit, we brought him food and winter clothes. Recently, he called us asking for a refrigerator, as his old one had broken down and he could no longer store food properly in the warmer weather.

Since the rain had washed away the road to his house, with the help of a neighbor we managed to deliver the refrigerator by tractor. This is part of Momčilo’s daily struggle—walking with a cane, he goes up and down to the village only when necessary. Once a lover of music, he asked his neighbor to brighten the day by playing his old accordion.

Thanks to the kindness of people supporting our ongoing program for helping families , we were able to assist Momčilo once again.

Social Aid, Hard to Reach Even When Deserved

Socially vulnerable families face huge challenges just to survive. The small amount of state support is often difficult to withdraw due to the ban on the dinar in Kosovo. If they miss collecting the money because of illness, lack of transport, or financial hardship, they are forced to prove their right to aid all over again due to the monthly withdrawal procedure. That’s why support and one-time assistance, though not solving every problem, bring hope—showing families they are not alone in difficult times.
