Just before the Orthodox New Year, we delivered gifts to the kindergartens in Vrbovac and Klokot.
We spent time with the little ones from the two largest villages in the Vitina area, where the kindergartens together host 48 children.
Gifts for the Kindergarten in Vrbovac
In conversation with the principal and staff, we learned that the kindergartens constantly need investments in various equipment, but the most urgent need is new carpentry work on the Vrbovac kindergarten building.
This small, idyllic village, like most in the region, relies on agriculture and small incomes. The snowy landscape faces the Šar Mountains, not far from the town of Vitina.
Kindergartens as a Second Home for Children
Since life for Serbs in the Vitina region after the war is concentrated in only a few nearby villages, kindergartens are very important places where children can socialize, gather, and grow together.
The children in Vitina and Klokot were thrilled with this year’s gift packages. Together with us, they sang and played festive songs, and in Klokot, we even recited for Santa Claus.
