Equipping the premises of the preschool department in Vitina

After the easing of pandemic protection measures, we launched an initiative to equip the preschool department of Mladen Marković School in Vitina. The renovation of the old clinic building, located in the yard of the Church of St. Petka in Vitina where the preschool will be housed is being carried out with the blessing of the Diocese of Raška and Prizren. The project is funded by generous donations from diaspora supporters: Goran Mekić, Sandra Janićijević, and Violeta Zafirovski. Since there is currently no space for preschool children within the school facilities, the plan is to complete the renovation of the entire building before the new school year begins. This will allow children to start preschool in September without interruption. “Mladen Marković” Elementary School in Vitina is one of the oldest educational institutions in Kosovo Pomoravlje. For many of its pupils, time spent at school is often the only opportunity to play and socialize with peers. In this municipality, in southern Kosovo and Metohija, about 20 Serbian families live today, and since the 1999 war, the church in Vitina has become their only gathering place. Support for Serbs in Vitina and for local Serbian institutions is crucial to ensure a happier childhood and better education for these children, while also encouraging their parents to remain with their families in Kosovo and Metohija.
