The humanitarian organization Kosovsko Pomoravlje has launched an initiative to equip the “Maja” kindergarten in Osojane, as another project dedicated to supporting children’s growth and education in Kosovo and Metohija.
The preschool institution “Maja” will open its doors in September this year, and until then it is necessary to equip the spaces for both children and staff.
What’s still needed for the kindergarten are tables and chairs for the children, kitchen elements, and office equipment for the teachers.
Goal €5,000
From September, more than thirty children from Osojane, Klina, and the surrounding area will attend this kindergarten. The creation of thirteen new jobs will also provide significant support to local families and encourage them to stay in Kosovo and Metohija.
Educational institutions are of vital importance for the lives of Serbs in Kosovo. They are, above all, places where children can gather, learn, and play in a safe environment—something that is often denied to them while growing up in enclaves. At the same time, considering the economic situation, along with healthcare and administration, these institutions are among the few opportunities for young people to find employment.
Osojane and its surroundings currently host the largest number of Serbian returnees in Kosovo. The courage and perseverance of the locals of this Metohija region were recognized by our late Metropolitan Amfilohije, under whose blessing the restoration of the church and the return of Serbs to Osojane began. The people of Osojane proudly keep the memory of their beloved “Đedo” alive, defending Metohija each day with their faith and lives from being forgotten or erased.
Supporting the initiative to equip the kindergarten in Osojane is one of the ways we can stand by the Serbian people in Metohija and show new generations that they are not alone!
