Nowadays, when communities face the risk of disappearing, the nine-member Dimić family lives in the village of Straža, near Gjilan. Life south of the Ibar River is far from easy, especially with eight children and very few opportunities to earn a living.
Yet, this has not stopped the Dimić family from returning to Kosovo and making it their home. This young couple emphasizes that hardships have never prevented them from fulfilling their dream – a home filled with the laughter of their children.
Their children Tamara (14), Biljana (13), Bogdan (11), Bojana (10), Dimitrije (8), Emina (5), and Ilija (1) – are aware of the struggles their parents face to provide a normal life. Recently, they have been eagerly awaiting a new family member who will brighten their home even more.
The Dimić family received a newly built house from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, marking a significant start for their new life and survival. Our mission is to help them continue living in Kosovo and Metohija.
As the children grow, so do their needs. Poverty surrounds them, and daily life is a constant challenge. Despite this, the Dimić family has no plans to leave; they want to stay in Kosovo. Dalibor shared that having a few sheep would help him feed his family.
In a world where many chase material possessions and status, it is remarkable that a man dreams of a small flock of sheep simply to sustain and feed his eight children. Due to the village’s location and conditions, the family wishes to focus on livestock farming.
The home has no washing machine, and Zorica, who is currently expecting another child, washes clothes by hand every day. She explained that a washing machine would ease daily chores and give her more time for her children. The humanitarian organization Kosovo Pomoravlje will work to provide a washing machine so Zorica can fully dedicate herself to her children’s needs.
We invite everyone to support the Dimić family in Straža. Every contribution helps, and their perseverance and presence will enrich the Pomoravlje region.
Donations can be made via PayPal or directly to the bank account, with the note: “For the Dimić Family.”
