Book donation in Vitina, we preserve the memory of March 17th with knowledge

A symbolic donation of 320 books to the “Mladen Marković” Elementary School in Vitina, on the anniversary of the March Pogrom, carries a powerful message: through knowledge, we preserve the memory of March 17, 2004.

О.Ш. “Младен Марковић” у Витини

Each year, March 17 reminds us of the hardest days for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and calls us never to forget the suffering our people endured to preserve their homes, names, and heritage.

This year, we marked the painful anniversary by donating books to the pupils of “Mladen Marković” Elementary School in Vitina. Our wish is for children to defend and protect with knowledge their own and others’ to respect all people, but also to remain proud of their roots and identity.

Only in this way can we truly honor all innocent victims, rebuild our destroyed sanctuaries, and revive extinguished hearths.

March 17- NEVER FORGET!

From Vitina, thousands of Serbs left after the war, and after the March 17 pogrom, only about fifty remain. Even today, Serbs in Vitina live in fear of new attacks, while children and adults avoid moving outside the school and churchyard. Once multiethnic, Vitina has become a place where Serbs can only walk when absolutely necessary.

If you are able, please support our work and the presence of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija!
