Morava Spiritual Evenings: Metropolitan Teodosije gave the first lecture

His Eminence, Metropolitan Teodosije of Raška and Prizren, held the first lecture yesterday at the Cultural Center in Šilovo, opening the cycle of the Morava Spiritual Evenings. The lecture was attended by monks from the Draganac Monastery, local clergy, and the faithful of Kosovo Pomoravlje.

The topic of Metropolitan Teodosije’s lecture, Shepherding and Co-Shepherding in the Church of God, explained to the audience what the relationship between a shepherd and his flock should look like. His message was that before any rules, the relationship between clergy and people — and indeed every relationship within the Church — must be guided by love for God and for one another. As examples of good shepherds, His Eminence mentioned many saints, while also reminding the faithful that there are also poor shepherds from whom one must stay away.

Metropolitan Teodosije Opens the Spiritual Series

“The Lord warns: beware of false prophets who will come in the guise of messiahs, saying they are the saviors — but do not believe them. The Lord is the true shepherd, ready to lay down His life for His sheep, as He proved when He suffered on the Cross for us and our salvation.”

Metropolitan Teodosije reminded the faithful that Saint Sava followed Christ’s example as the Good Shepherd and explained what made his pastoral service so profound.

Saint Sava – The Good Serbian Shepherd

“At the age of 17, Saint Sava left the royal court. He did not seek the throne. His path was a great act of self-denying love — a very beautiful expression. One must deny oneself and be ready for sacrifice in order to show divine love to one’s neighbor. But in doing so, he did not lose himself — he was fulfilled.”

Next Lecture in January

After the lecture, listeners had the chance to ask questions on the topic. Metropolitan Teodosije concluded by saying that unity in Christ, together with fasting, prayer, and repentance, are the only ways for the small flock of Christ to endure in Kosovo and Metohija — through love for God and for every human being.

The Draganac Monastery and our organization, as co-organizers of the event, expressed gratitude to His Eminence and all participants for their interest and attention, and announced the next lecture at the end of January.

Special thanks go to the Božidar Mitrović Šandor Cultural Center for their invaluable support in organizing the event.
